The Mischief of the Mistletoe by Lauren Willig, finished in first place and blew away the competition.
The cover's charm and nostalgic tone was almost impossible to resist and half of the contest voters chose this cover as their favorite.
Several words were repeated over and over by the voters and several mentioned the online version didn't reflect the beautiful foil accents.
Let's see what else they thought about Mischief.
Mary G.: "It's so romantic! "The colors and the image take me back to a Dickens' Christmas."
Shannon M.: "It's beautiful! And just Christmas-y enough...classy!"
Ashley M.: "I love the classic, old-time feel - for me, Christmas is about traditions. I also love the clothing of the cover model!"
There were muff lovers like Dayana: "It's amazingly cute and I love the fur arm muff thing, plus it's got a cute mistletoe!"
And Danielle D.: "This cover reminds me of how a young lady would dress in the 1800's. Besides I always wanted a muff."
The heroine won over Claire P: "She looks so sweet and adorable!"
Alexis B.: "You can see her lovely face. And I love all the holly."
Carole R.: "It is simply breathtaking to behold. Also, it is so original and fresh. It embodies the holiday season and a romance that
will never die. Also you know it'll be quite interesting to read!"
Jen R.: "It's the most elegant and beautiful cover. it's a piece of art that took skill and thought to design."
Beth W. agreed with Jen: "It perfectly captures that somewhat nostalgic feeling everyone gets at Christmastime. The art is beautiful.
Just looking at it puts you in a holiday mood!"
Ellen D.: "I like that it's so different from the other covers (no horse-drawn sleigh for instance) and she has
a sweet flirtatious look on her face instead of a sassy glare or as if she's been caught in a Personal Moment."
I thought Joanna H. covered all of this cover's appeal with her comment: " This cover is both traditional and timeless. It evokes feelings of the peace of the holiday season as well
as sparks an interest in knowing what mischief lies behind that Mona Lisa-like smile."

Until I read Robin's comment: "It's a lovely and nostalgic cover. It reminded me of curling up with my family on the sofa under piles of blankets,
sipping hot chocolate and watching "A Christmas Carol". I bought the book without checking the author or the blurb, which I have never done.
It's even better that the story was as delightful as the cover." This comment is every publisher's, author's, and art director's dream.

Christmas With the Duchess by Tamara LeJeune finished in second place. It features a beautiful woman in a
lovely ivory gown set against ruby red draperies. The artist finished off the scene with a moonlit snow scape and a candle reflected through the window pane. I LOVE it for
its elegance and the touch of holly makes me smile. The voters who chose this cover loved it for the same reasons.
Christy S.: "It's the mistletoe and the dress, just georgous!"
Andrea S.: "It's has a certain feel to it that fits with Christmas. Lovely picture."
Raelene G.: "Clear image, lovely gown, like the sprig of holly (versus overdone, over the top Christmas gaudiness)."
Susana: "It's an elegant image without going over the top with holiday presence."
Cover Cafe's Cindy: "To me this has somewhat of a duel look. I love the snow on the outside blending the blues and whites.
The romantic look on the inside with candles, holly and a gorgeous lady in white. It just balances the holiday look for me."
Delle J.: "All the others are lovely but look like designs I've seen several times before. This one has a line and flow that are unique and eye-catching."
Elizabeth: "The candles, snowy window, and holly give it a nice Christmassy feel--and you have to love that dress!"
Kim: "I didn't read this book, but it has the best cover. The red drapes and the heroine holding the sprig of mistletoe reminded me of Christmas."
Mary Jo P.: "It's just plain beautiful. They' all nice, but this one instantly caught my attention, and kept it."
Susan: "Love the dress color against the reds and the reflection of the candle glowing in the window. Gives a feeling of coziness against the winter outside."
Katherine: "It's a beautiful cover. I love the dress, the candles, the whole scene. I definitely prefer covers with people."

In third place is His Christmas Pleasure by Cathy Maxwell. The voters who voted for this cover appreciated that it showcased a "complete"
romantic couple, they loved their expressions...and that red dress.
Cover Cafe's Karen H.: "I like the red dress and the poinsettia and the necklace looks red and green. And, most importantly, it shows a couple together."
Monica B.: "It's a very romantic picture. Great colors, very Christmasly."
Sandi C.: "It makes you want to pick up the book and find out the two characters' story."
Nikki H.: "It appears that he is admiring his beautiful gift on his beautiful woman. The red of the cover feels warm and the shadows are just a little mysterious."
TJB: "The red-haired model is gorgeous and has an intriguing look in her eyes--smug, but in a good way. He looks absolutely enamored of her. The red dress pops! Love it."
Estella B.: "I think it's an absolutely beautiful cover!"
Laleh: "The colors are vivid and you can see the faces of the man and the woman on the cover."
Christine W.: "I love the look of love in her eyes!"
Martine focused on the handsome hero: "Cute guy."
Jane S.noticed him, too.: "All that gorgeous red! And that gorgeous hero."
Amanda B. was doing some holiday shopping with her eyes.: "Very, very sexy! Who wouldn't want him for Christmas?"
And finally, Raynell was all about the anticipation: "Of what is to come..."

Christmas Magic on the Mountain by Melissa McClone finished in fourth place. I think this is a fun and romanctic cover featuring a cute couple in love.
It captures a woman's fantasy of spending time with her man while enjoying some old fashioned Christmas fun. Let's see what the cover's fans had to say.
Tiff T.: "It's so cozy and I like how the hero is leaning into the heroine."
Beth C.: "We all can picture ourselves in a romantic winter sleigh scene, cuddling with our honey!"
Mason C.: "It just has the look of Christmas."
Linda L.: "Nice mix of holiday peaceful and romantic."
Susan M.: "Beautiful snow..very romantic."
Shirley J.: "Fabulous cover...so perfect for a holiday read!"

Love Finds You Under the Mistletoe by Irene Brand and Anita Higman finished in a tie for fifth place. This cover is a
quintessential take on the holiday theme. I like how they incorporated the series logo and title so that they're a part of the scene. According to the voter comments,
this cover is a Christmas present all wrapped up in a bow. The sleigh was also a hit with the voters who chose this cover.
Lyn: "It really evokes the old fashioned Christmas feeling. I just wish I could climb on the sleigh!"
Marta P.: "So expressive of the wonderful stories inside--like opening a Christmas gift!"
Lois R.: "It's gorgeous, well-designed and really stands out. Plus, it's just plain heartwarming!"
Patt M.: "It's festive, looks like a real gift and isn't fussy."
Cover Cafe's Tina: "It's very understated and I love the simplicity and the softness of it."
Susan A.: "Like how the ribbon is wrapped around the book, looking like a Christmas present."
Finally, Camille says it all with her comment: "I love this holiday themed cover because it makes me feel
nostalgic, like Sinatra or Crosby should be playing in the background when I look at it. (& as a bonus
it looks like a present!)"

The second cover finishing in fifth place is Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor by Lisa Kleypas. This cover is
striking because it isn't the classic red, green, and white. The sexy blues catch your eye and the setting is perfect for
a Christmas Eve to remember. The voters who chose this cover agreed.
Cover Cafe's Karen W.: "This is my favorite holiday cover this year. I love that it's so unusual. I've seen typical snow scenes hundreds of times,
but this catches my attention and combines holiday lights and colors with a new twist."
Chris C.: "Very pretty. calming and relatively different from most Christmas covers"
Paige: "It's just so different. How many of us really get to enjoy the holiday season on a boat out in the water. I love the Christmas
lights on the boats and the beautuful snow topped mountains in the background. This cover looks like someone is gonna have a fun, secluded
and sexy holiday...I'm jealous."
Ann: "I was debating on two of the covers. Lisa Kleypas' book and Cathy Maxwell's book. I decided on Lisa's book because of the lights,
the snow and the mountains."
Diandra R.: "I absolutely love the color scheme, as well as the combination of boats, lights, and landscape. It almost seems surreal."
And this comment by Lesley made me smile. "I nearly went with one of the headless gowns, but this is
refreshingly different."

Lakeshore Christmas by Susan Wiggs finished in seventh place. This cover's lantern style lamp was a major reason for voters choosing it as
their favorite. The lights seem to beckon people to come inside where it's warm.
Casey L.: "It says Christmas to me even though I live in Texas where we do not have a "white" christmas."
Malvina: "It's comfy, cozy, simply gorgeous and the lamp's lighting the way in. Yep, I'm there."
Anna R.: "It's the warm glow of the lights--both inside the windows and out--shining through the dusk light into
the softly swirling snowfall. It's what makes me feel the coziness of the moment by the steps."
Helen W.: "This colorful cover made me want to peer inside and see what was going on."
Peggy M.: "I love Christmas and Susan Wiggs' Lakeshore series. This cover has the things that remind of Christmas from when I was a child."
Janet F.: " I have always loved lanterns - and the warmth of the interior and the big fluffy snowflakes makes me think of the holidays!"

In eighth place is A Countess by Christmas by Annie Burrows. Many of the voters didn't leave a comment when they voted for this cover but I believe the beautiful red dress,
the warm glow from the fireplace, and the soft glow of the lamps were the reasons voters chose this cover.
Cover Cafe's Karen W. voted for another cover but commented on this cover, too: "My second choice is A Countess by Christmas by Annie Burrows,
which suggests Christmas with the colors and the wreath but isn't too cute. It promises a holiday story combined with historical romance, which appeals
to me as a historical reader."
Cover Cafe's Marian did choose this cover: "I love the reds and the warm feeling that the fire in the fireplace gives."
Charlotte M.agreed about the colors: "I love the rich color and the layout."

Yuletide Defender by Sandra Robbins finished in ninth place. I was surprised and pleased with how this cover blended the snowy holiday scene
with menacing undertones that still fit the suspense genre. The art director did a great job of walking that fine line between home and hearth and danger on the road.
Cover Cafe's Mary Lynne agreed: "It's hard to combine the happiness of the holidays with suspense and danger. This cover does it really well,
blending the snow-covered lights on the pine trees with those ominous footprints and the eerie glow of the streetlights...."
Lynn C. was won over by the holiday scene: "Looks like what I think of when I think Christmas."
Sylvia N. agreed with Lynn: "I can imagine a lone visitor coming home on a snowy Christmas Eve. It's a comforting image."
Anna liked that it was unique: "It's a bit different from all the others who use the classics. This one is warm, winterly and comforting without
being a cliche."

In tenth place is Grace by Shelley Shepard Gray. This pretty cover has the unhappy task of finishing in last place.
It received only one lonely comment. I've been contemplating the reason why and perhaps, it is too plain to win votes when competing against the other covers. However, since the story takes place in the Amish community, plain is exactly the right style of cover
for depicting what is inside. The scene fits the title and its simplicity is pretty in a quiet way. I think it is a wonderful holiday cover. Now, let's check out that comment.
Meghan said simply: "It's such a clean, pretty scene." And that is what this cover was supposed to portray.
