Christmas in July!

I love buying a holiday romance, curling up in front of my Christmas tree with a favorite hot beverage, and falling into the season via the story inside the cover.

Last year, I was feeling the holiday spirit around Thanksgiving and saw several holiday covers that made me stop and take notice.   On a whim, I chose five of my favorite 2009 holiday romance covers  and created Cover Cafe's inaugural Holiday Favorites Poll.  There was a runaway winner in 2009 with Love Finds You in North Pole, Alaska by Loree Lough.  That cover beat the other four covers by a mile.

Since there are 12 months between Cover Cafe's annual contests and I love the holidays, we are going to sponsor a second Holiday Favorites Poll.  However, this year we will have time to open up the nominations to the public and we'll use the same ballot style we use for the annual contest.  I've already seen a few 2010 holiday covers appearing in upcoming releases. 

The guidelines are simple.  The covers need to be from a 2010 release, they must fit into the romance guidelines, and of course, there should be a holiday theme or even a holly berry positioned somewhere on the cover to qualify.   Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, or a New Year's theme all fall under the Holiday Favorites category.

The Holiday Favorites nominations will be open until November 15, 2010 and any of the  2010 holiday romance covers are eligible.   The online voting will be from December 1, 2010 through December 20, 2010. 

Whenever you see a cover that portrays the holiday spirit, visit the Cover Cafe nomination section, click on the Holiday Favorites link, and send Cover Cafe some holiday cheer.

And remember as of July 18th,  there are only 160 days shopping days until Christmas!   I don't know about you, but I am not an early shopper.   I need the ambiance of the season and Black Friday is my official starting time.
