CBS Sunday Morning Dishes on Book Covers! Yea!

Posted by Linnae - Cover Cafe in Cover Discussion at 15:23

This past Sunday, CBS Sunday Morning and correspondent Erin Moriarity, showcased the world of book covers and their importance to the successful launch of a book.  Cover Cafe members spend the year judging books by their covers and we want covers that inspire, enchant, and even stop us dead in our tracks. Thank you to Cherry Adair for posting about this on her facebook page. I love it when covers take center stage and I hope the publishing world is listening. Enjoy!

CBS News video: Judging Books by Their Covers - Sometimes book covers can be as memorable as the pages they protect. Erin Moriarty reports on the design process in creating the art for literature's most famous novels and what lies ahead for the future in the digital age.

What they neglected to add, is that even ebook readers are drawn by covers. Just because it's not on a shelf doesn't mean people don't notice the art. A good cover artist is worth their weight in gold!

I agree because internet retail sources post thumbnails & larger jpgs of the covers to catch shoppers' eyes as they skim their online inventory. Future eReaders will also offer a variety of ways to showcase books and I believe visual advertising will be an important part of the equation.
